These fish are best kept in groups to reduce aggression.
They should be kept with other Malawi cichlids of a similar size, as can be aggressive,they need a tank size of at least 200-280 litres
Water should be changed regularly and be 24-28 degree celcius with a ph of 7.5-8.6
They are mainly herbivores so require a diet of cichlid pellets and flakes and only occasional frozen treats such as brine shrimp or daphnia
