Brazilian geophagus (Geophagus brasiliensis, also known as pearl cichlid) are South American cichlids and can grow up to 9 inches long. They like a temperature of between 22-28 degrees Celsius.
They are a peaceful fish, but can become aggressive and territorial when breeding and are therefore better to keep with similar size fish.
They need sand in the tank as they sift through it to eat.
They need to eat sinking pellets, high protein flakes and frozen food.
Regular water changes are essential.
The fish are between 2-3cm long at time of sale. Alternative sizes are available.
